Food Processing & Packaging

Life Sciences

Healthcare, health sciences education, and medical product manufacturing are a vibrant and growing sector in Augusta County. The new one-mile corridor in Fishersville, LifeCore Drive, serves as the hub for this emerging sector. This life sciences corridor connects the expanding healthcare complex of Augusta Health with the Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences, the Myers Corner medical office development, and Wilson Workforce Rehabilitation Center. Augusta Health serves as a Research Affiliate for Duke Cancer Institute and recently opened a state-of-the-art Heart and Vascular Center. It was named one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals for Surgical Excellence in 2024 and 2025.

Augusta County boasts more farm acreage than any other Virginia county, with 1,729 farms on 286,195 acres. As the second largest agriculture producing county in Virginia, Augusta County ranks first in the state for production of beef cattle, sheep and lambs, and second in milk cow production.
